1 Peter 2:9-12 reinforces our identity in Christ as well as our separation from the world as we identify as pilgrims and sojourners in this world. Our identity then shapes our behavior and the focus of our way of life in the world in which we live. We are to live as a people who know what the mercy of God looks like in our lives so we can share it into the lives of people around us.

Paul once again points us to Jesus and away from himself and Apollos. But as well to do this he has to establish his apostolic position in order for the church in Corinth to really take onboard what he is saying. There were many issues in the Corinthian church that he had to address and now the set up to address these things head on has come.

We once again look at 1 Peter 2:9, the second half. Once we find our identity and know who we are we need to consider what that means for how we live in this world. We are to proclaim the praises of HIM.

The focus this week is on the first part of verse 9 as we consider our identity in Christ. Peter makes the case throughout this short book that we have to know who we are so that we can do what we are supposed to do.

1 Corinthians 3:10-15 is the text of this session. Grace is built on a foundation that is unchanging and solid. What foundation are we building our lives on? What building materials are we using to build our lives upon?
These are big questions that we need to know the answers to or we will end badly at the time of judgement.

Christ is the living stone, but we also are living stones. Our Christian faith is not a dead faith but rather a living faith that leads us to do the work of a living God.
