This is part two of the intro to 2 Peter but moves us into the content of verses 2-4 as we focus on knowing Christ to prepare us for the principles of growing in relationship with God and each other.

Today is the start of a new series on the book of 2 Peter. Since we’d introduced Peter earlier I don’t spend much time on him.

The two themes I focus on are the grace and peace that are in the greeting. But knowledge and knowing are a primary topic as we learn how to enjoy that grace and peace because we know God.

A Study of Psalm 1 on living a prosperous Christ-centered life guided by a relationship with God. both from the study of the word and communion via prayer.

Luke 19 has the story of Palm Sunday, the Triumphal Entry to Jerusalem that day so long ago. It was a declaration that He was King, but as verse 41 reminds us He was a King with a heart that was broken even for those he was to rebuke.

The text takes us further past the first part of chapter 6 to a deeper understanding of our relationship with church discipline and base our works on our relationship with God 1 Corinthians 6:12-19 is the principle laid out that we are not our own but Christ’s. Our body is God’s Temple, that should change how we live.

Teacher — Jack Greenwood

Who do we follow and why? It should be Jesus that we follow and emulate. 1 Peter 2:22-25 shows us how Jesus lived to die so that He can be our ultimate perfect shepherd. This is our model and pattern to live for Christ.

The relationship between slave and master is not part of our day-to-day living but it was a reality of Peter’s day and society. How was a slave to balance their lives against the believer that was not in servitude?
Jesus was the ultimate example of submission as He said: “Not my will but Thine…” So we are to learn submission by using Jesus as our best guide. How does my heart or yours match up to Christ?

Picking up at the beginning of chapter 6, we review and move on to finish the day at verse 11. There is a lot to consider in light of chapter 5 and the implications of what church discipline looks like. How should we consider the point of our relationship to the legal system and the context of the church?

Teacher — Jack Greenwood

1 Peter teaches us that holiness matters. But what does holiness look like, how does living godly look and what does submission look like in our day and age? Whilst not all the answers by any means, at least look at some introductory thoughts. Submission is not our normal or go-to attitude, especially as Americans and Montanans. But it is a part of our spiritual discipline for living. Join in for a look at 1 Peter 2:13-16 to see how this might affect your living for Christ as pilgrims and sojourners.
