2 Samuel 7:1-11, 16 leads us on an interesting thought for Christmas Eve. Not the text one might expect but making room for Christ is the key to Christmas. So take a listen and consider David’s heart, God’s plan and blessing and what that might be a place to build from for our own lives.

Text is Isaiah 61:1-11 Focus is on who calls and anoints us. It is indeed the same God that sent Jesus to this earth to be the Savior of the world. We as well have a calling by God to be like Jesus and to tell others about His good news in our lives and world.

Isaiah 40:1-11 is the Lectionary text this week. Comfort, yes, comfort my people says the Lord. What a way to start. The world is a messy place to live and we are as well are living messy lives. So we need God’s comfort to shepherd us through this life. We can be the lambs of God’s flock.

The first Sunday of Advent is the start of a new Lectionary year and a new Advent Season. Isaiah 64:1-9 speaks of the power of God to meet our human need for salvation and beyond.

1 Corinthians tells a story of how to fix a really broken church. Verses 10-17 share the idea of divisions that distract from the preaching/sharing of the gospel. One way of glorifying God is by our proclamation of Jesus. What is our focus as we do?

Psalm 100 is the psalm of Thanksgiving and it has a tremendous lesson as it is a call to worship in the presence of God and to be thankful. There is a contrast to Romans 1 where the verse describes sinful living and says that sinfulness comes from not glorifying God and an unthankful heart.
